There is a Japanese saying about calligraphy and painting: Izen hitsugo, “Mind before, brush after.” Meaning, to be spiritually attuned before taking brush to hand.

I would prefer to say, “No-mind before, brush after.” Free your mind, and then with open heart let the Movement come through.
